MELIKGAZI MUNICIPALITY IS ENHANCING EFFICIENCY WITH WATER-SAVING SYSTEMS

Melikgazi Municipality is preventing water waste with alternative irrigation methods, while also increasing agricultural productivity.
Melikgazi Municipality aims to achieve water conservation and increase agricultural productivity in many neighbourhoods of the district through sprinkler and drip irrigation services. Implemented by the Rural Services Directorate, this service also addresses the irrigation needs of citizens, thereby alleviating water scarcity issues.
Melikgazi Mayor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Palancıoğlu stated, "We aim to promote modern irrigation techniques that support producers and prevent water waste. We continue our efforts prioritizing rural development without slowing down.
Sprinkler and drip irrigation systems direct water directly to the soil, minimizing evaporation and waste. By using our water resources efficiently and effectively, we aim to increase productivity in agricultural production through savings.
In this context, our Rural Services Directorate teams provide irrigation services in corn, sunflower, and alfalfa fields in the Gesi, Yeşilyurt, Bağpınar, Bahçeli, Gürpınar, Hisarcık, Kıranardı, and Güzelköy neighborhoods. Our operations serve approximately 5,000 farmers and cover an area of about 13,000 hectares. He said, "Congratulations on our initiative that helps prevent water waste and increase production.
