MAYOR PALANCIOĞLU COMPLETES HIS SECOND PROJECT SUPPORTED BY THE EU
31 May 2024

Implementing various high-quality projects with an innovative and visionary approach, Melikgazi Mayor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Palancıoğlu is launching another EU-supported project that will set an example for other municipalities in terms of savings and zero waste.

Melikgazi Mayor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Palancıoğlu, who went to Lithuania for Melikgazi Municipality's project named 'Increasing Digital Municipality Services for Climate Change Mitigation - DigiEdu' within the scope of the European Union, held the closing meeting at Druskininkai Municipality.

Mayor Palancıoğlu, who is in Lithuania to carry out activities within the 'Project Dissemination and Experience Sharing Program' to expand the project, which will provide both convenience to citizens by enabling them to benefit from digital municipal services and contribute to the environment by reducing intra-city vehicle usage, informed the delegation about the projects he has implemented and planned to implement in Melikgazi.

In the meeting attended by Druskininkai Mayor Richard Malinauskas and members of the delegation, Mayor Palancıoğlu stated, 'As Melikgazi Municipality, we have implemented many projects that will add value to our district. With our innovative and visionary municipal understanding, we are striving to bring different and high-quality projects to our district. The nature we live in is a great gift bestowed upon us, and unfortunately, it is sometimes damaged by human hands.'
Therefore, this situation brings along many climate crises. As municipalities, it is extremely important for us to guide and encourage our citizens in waste reduction and saving. In this regard, alternative energy sources, recycling, and digitization are on our agenda. We have obtained significant support from the European Union for solar energy, alternative energy sources, and recycling, and thus, we have brought important services to Melikgazi. In this context, we have purchased an electric recycling vehicle, installed an electric charging station, and had the opportunity to establish a solar energy plant, especially regarding irrigation water. Now, we are in Lithuania to complete our second high-quality project related to 'Digital Education and Municipal Governance.' By completing our project named 'Increasing Digital Municipality Services for Climate Change Mitigation - DigiEdu,' we ensure both savings for our municipality and its prominence in waste reduction. I am grateful to Mayor Richard Malinauskas and the esteemed members of the delegation for hosting us. With the implementation of another one of our beautiful projects that will set an example for other municipalities, we are contributing to Kayseri, Melikgazi, and our citizens. May it be beneficial for everyone.
