Melikgazi Municipality became the first municipality to receive the TS EN ISO 50001:2018 Energy Management System Certificate, successfully passing the audit conducted by the independent certification body Vericert.

Melikgazi Mayor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Palancıoğlu, stating that Melikgazi Municipality has once again documented its success in exemplary efforts towards energy efficiency, said, "We are delighted to have the achievements of our commendable efforts in the field of energy efficiency certified, and to be the first in Kayseri to do so. Energy efficiency has become one of the prominent topics in our country and the world in recent times." As a municipality, we are working to both enhance the quality of our services and achieve the highest level of efficiency in our endeavors. The achievement of obtaining the TS EN ISO 50001:2018 Energy Management System Certificate, because of the intensive work conducted by the Research and Development Directorate and the Energy Management Unit, is a significant success. The systematic monitoring, tracking, and analysis of energy consumption will pave the way for efficiency-enhancing initiatives. With the determination of our municipality's energy policy, managing energy consumption (electricity, natural gas, and fuel) will reduce our energy costs and play a significant role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. At the same time, through our efforts on renewable energy sources, we aim to meet the energy needs of the municipality from clean energy sources.
