Melikgazi Municipality is carrying out comprehensive cleaning work on rainwater channels, which have a total length of 45 km and are located in five different areas throughout the district. This effort aims to prevent floodwater channels, potential floods, and water inundations.

In a scheduled operation conducted by the Melikgazi Municipality’s Environmental Protection and Control Department, cleaning work is being carried out with the help of a mini loader, wheeled excavator, open truck, and crane to remove waste.

Melikgazi Mayor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Palancıoğlu stated that they work tirelessly around the clock for a cleaner Melikgazi. He emphasized, "We place great importance on channel cleaning work to prevent the risk of water inundation after potential heavy rains in Melikgazi. We diligently continue our rainwater channel cleaning efforts, which we carry out annually according to a specific program. Our teams work around the clock to take timely measures necessary for ensuring the safety of our citizens. We have meticulously carried out channel cleaning work across 5 areas throughout our district, including: from Altınoluk to Osman Kavuncu, from Eğribucak to the Organized Industrial Zone, from Millet Park to Danişmentgazi, from Yıldırım Beyazıt to the entrance of Erciyes University, and from Bahçelievler to the Democracy Neighbourhood, covering a total length of 45 km. By keeping the rainwater drainage channels clear, we are preventing potential water inundations and ensuring the safety of our citizens. We will continue our efforts with all our strength for the prosperity of our district," said Mayor Palancıoğlu. He also added that the channel cleaning work would continue periodically throughout the district.
