With the arrival of summer, Melikgazi Municipality has increased its disinfection efforts, conducting intensive spraying activities throughout all neighbourhoods of the district. 

The operations are carried out comprehensively with state-of-the-art equipment and non-harmful chemicals to human health.

Melikgazi Municipality Mayor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Palancıoğlu, commenting on the disinfection activities, stated, "During the summer months, especially during the vineyard and garden season, we are conducting spraying activities in all 58 neighbourhoods with numerous vehicles to ensure that our citizens do not encounter problems with mosquitoes, flies, and other pests. Our spraying activities typically start around sunset and continue until late at night.

We are conducting these operations quietly to avoid disturbing our citizens. Spraying is carried out in all neighbourhoods, focusing on areas where it is needed. There is a specific method to spraying as excessive use can be harmful to human health. Therefore, it is important not to exceed the dosage. Especially in rural areas and specific locations, excessive spraying can unfortunately harm bees and other beneficial insects. Therefore, while we conduct spraying in every region and green area, it is crucial to regulate the dosage for the health of our citizens and wildlife. Particularly outdoors, in sunlight, open areas with wet garbage can lead to the breeding of harmful insects. Leaving garbage exposed inevitably leads to rapid insect breeding. Therefore, it is crucial to dispose of your garbage into the containers near the municipality's garbage collection times. Garbage thrown into the container right after it's collected will stay there until our next garbage collection vehicle arrives, potentially breeding mosquitoes, flies, and pests.
