MELIKGAZI MUNICIPALITY INSPECTORS CONDUCT PRICE AND LABEL INSPECTIONS IN MARKETS AHEAD OF RAMADAN
05 March 2024

Melikgazi Municipality's Municipal Police teams have intensified inspections for basic food and essential products in markets throughout the district ahead of the upcoming Ramadan month, targeting exorbitant prices and labelling issues.

Melikgazi Municipality Mayor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Palancıoğlu reminded that businesses selling food such as supermarkets, bakeries, and pastry shops are being inspected to ensure that citizens can spend the Ramadan month in peace. He stated, "Our Municipality Police Department teams are continuing their inspections of chain supermarkets, bazaars, and markets without slowing down, especially ahead of the Ramadan month.
Our teams particularly scrutinized labels of essential food and necessity products. During the inspections, we checked whether the prices of products were exorbitant, if there were any discrepancies between the label price and the checkout price, and examined the last price change date on the labels compared to the previous price. Our inspections will continue intermittently to ensure that citizens can shop in a more comfortable and reliable environment. I would like to thank my colleagues who contributed to these efforts.

The teams, emphasizing that inspections will continue during the Ramadan month, stated that no negative incidents have been encountered so far. They also mentioned that necessary warnings have been issued to the operators to address some deficiencies.
