MELİKGAZİ TO HOUSE A 535,000 SQUARE METER FRUIT ORCHARD
11 March 2024

Melikgazi Municipality, which has provided the district with 3 million square meters of green space in 5 years, is distributing 21 thousand fruit saplings to support agriculture and farmers in 16 rural neighbourhoods.

"Melikgazi's Contribution to the Future, Supporting Afforestation"

Reminding of the support from the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture, Melikgazi Mayor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Palancıoğlu stated, 'With the participation of our council members and council member candidates, we distributed fruit saplings to our fellow citizens at Gesi Square. We want to see a greener Melikgazi and a greener Kayseri. Agriculture signifies abundance. We had prayed for rain in our rural neighbourhoods, and it has been fruitful. Mashallah, there is a mix of snow and rain. The Gesi region is famous for its walnuts and vineyards. Today, with the support of the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture, 16 enclosed fruit orchards are being established in 5 rural neighbourhoods.'
Today and tomorrow, we will distribute 21 thousand fruit saplings in 16 neighbourhoods. A total area of 535 thousand square meters will be transformed into fruit orchards. Our support will continue to increase in the future. Melikgazi is a large district with a population of 585 thousand. We solve whatever needs arise in Kayseri by working hand in hand. Today, our topic is agriculture. Melikgazi has always been there for our farmers. In the past, we distributed chickpeas and peas. We will further expand these initiatives in the future. We have solved irrigation water problems, and irrigation has started in the fields. Inshallah, we will conduct new studies on this issue in the new period. We will support all rural neighbourhoods from Büyük Bürüngüz to Ağırnas and Gesi. The Provincial Directorate of Agriculture will also oversee the maintenance of the fruit saplings we distributed today. I thank Provincial Director of Agriculture Mr. Bülent Saklav, Chamber of Agriculture President Mr. Mahmut Çelebi, and everyone who contributed.
